Treatment

Chair: Dr Javier Vilar

The aim of the Treatment project is to increase numbers treated in Greater Manchester, and increase equity of access to treatment.

Effective anti-viral therapy, as recommended by NICE, is available locally and all patients who test hepatitis C antibody and PCR RNA positive should be referred to local treatment centres for specialist assessment of eligibility for treatment. Treatment services are currently provided at the following locations:

  • Hepatology Services at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Infectious Disease Services at North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH), Pennine Acute NHS Trust
  • Oldham Royal Infirmary (NMGH team)
  • Rochdale Drug Service (NMGH Team)
  • Manchester Drug Services (NMGH team)

The Greater Manchester Hepatitis C Strategy has also produced a document entitled  Treatment Guidance for Patients with Hepatitis C in Greater Manchester.  To download this document, click here.
